Pet Water Bottle Stands ~ and/or ~ Pet Elevated Food Stands

Water Bottle Height ~ Tube Diameter ~ Weather ~ Elevated Food Stands

Pet water bottle stands have become today’s must have product for pet owners. They make our lives easier and our pets lives better. For that reason it is important that you take a moment to understand how a pet water bottle stand should work so that both you and your pet will have a more healthy and positive experience.

PAWS Creations™ uses a water bottle that has two stainless steel balls in the drinking tube. When your pet licks on the tube the balls are pushed back releasing the water directly onto your pet’s tongue. When the pet stops licking, the balls reseat themselves in the tip of the drinking tube stopping the water’s flow.

A stand basically just holds the water bottle but proper height adjustment of that water bottle is very important. For this reason our stands are made in two pieces, the stand and the water bottle support unit. You have the ability to easily adjust the height of the water bottle on your stand either up or down to reach the most comfortable position for your pet to drink. This is an added benefit for pet owners with immature pets as the level can be adjusted up as your pet matures.

After reading the Correct, too Low and too High information (see below) on the water bottle you will better understand how the water bottle works for your pet.

As your pet licks on the tube tip in the Correct position its tongue will be able to apply the most pressure to the balls inside the tip, pushing them back further and releasing the most water directly onto your pets tongue.

In the Too Low or the Too High position the pet’s tongue cannot access the tip of the tube correctly. This means that as they try to lick on the tube tip the balls are not pushed back far enough to release the water flow correctly.

So as you can see proper positioning of the water bottle tube tip in relationship to your pet’s mouth/tongue is very important.

Please see How to Measure to determine which size stand is right for your pet.

Correct Water Bottle Height Adjustment

Ideally you want your pet to be able to walk straight up to the water bottle stand with its head level (Picture A) and lick on the tube to get the water. The water is then transferred from the pet’s tongue down its throat when it swallows.

As your pet licks on the tube tip in the Correct position its tongue will be able to apply the most pressure to the balls inside the tip, pushing them back further and releasing the most water directly onto your pets tongue.

But keep in mind the pet’s physical condition and their preference. I have one *dog that prefers to sit down when she eats or drinks because one of her front legs is shorter than the other.

Water Bottle Height Adjusted too Low

If the water bottle is adjusted to low (Picture B) the pet will have to twist its neck down and to the side in order to try to reach the tube tip.

Because the pet’s head is twisted to the side it cannot properly push against the balls when it licks to release the water flow correctly. It may get some water but what water it does get might run out of the side of the pet’s mouth (gravity) before it has a chance to swallow.

Your pet would have to drink for a long time to satisfy its thirst or it might grow tired and give up and not get the liquid its body needs in order to function properly which could lead to medical problems.

Water Bottle Height Adjusted too High

This water bottle is adjusted to high and the puppy has to stretch to try and reach the tip of the drinking tube (Picture C).

Again this is a problem as your pet might not be able to push/lick hard enough against the balls to release the water flow correctly and may only get a few drops of water at a time. Your pet would have to drink for a long time to satisfy its thirst or it might grow tired and give up and not get the liquid its body needs in order to function properly which could lead to medical problems. Also by having to stretch up to reach the drinking tip the water could flow down the pet’s windpipe before it has a chance to swallow.

Diameter of Drinking Tube

As we all know water is very important to the health of all living things, be it human, animal or plant.

PAWS Creations™ only uses the large diameter drinking tube. We feel that it delivers more water to your pet in less time and makes our pet water bottle stands a more healthy and positive choice for your pet.

A word of caution: Some nefarious breeders are breeding pets (dogs mainly) to be really, really, teeny tiny (which is wrong, cruel and unhealthy according to the experts – but that’s another story). They may be called by the breed name but unless they met the breed standard they are not true pedigrees. There is much information on the Internet about these poor animals and the breeders responsible.

These tiny animals will require a smaller diameter drinking tube as the water puts pressure on the tube balls and these little teeny tiny animals may not have enough strength or be healthy enough to push the balls back in the larger bottles. And (again according to the experts) they are not expected to live very long (only a few short years) or have a healthy life

Weather

Your water bottle comes with instructions from the water bottle manufacturer and they advise to keep the bottle out of direct sunlight.

Placing the bottle in direct sunlight, especially in the summer months will cause the water in the bottle to heat up. Also the steel drinking tube may heat up so much from the sun that it could burn and injure your pet’s tongue as it tries to drink causing your pet to associate pain with the bottle. Your pet might refuse to use the bottle and get dehydrated.

On the other hand if you live in a cold climate and the weather is freezing, the water in the bottle will freeze which could crack the bottle and destroy it. And more importantly when your pet licks on the steel tube its tongue could freeze to the tube inflicting a lot of pain and may injure your pet.

Note: All of the products created and made by PAWS Creations™ are for indoor use only.

Elevated Food Stands ~ Food Bowl Adjustment Height

Your pets food bowl needs to be adjusted to where the pet can easily reach the bottom of its food bowl (Picture D) without its throat rubbing or touching against anything as this might cause the pet to have difficulty in swallowing

Also keep in mind the pet’s physical and medical condition and its eating position preference. Is the pet handicapped? Is it a senior pet? Does the pet prefer to sit when eating?

A stand basically just holds the food bowl but proper height adjustment of that bowl is important. For this reason our stands are made in two pieces, the stand and the food bowl support unit. You have the ability to easily adjust the level of the food bowl on your stand either up or down to reach the most comfortable position for your pet. This is an added benefit for pet owners with immature pets as the level can be adjusted up as your pet matures.

Please see How to Measure to determine which size stand is right for your pet.

Pet Eating Table Stand™ (Patent Pending)

PAWS Creations™ recommends that all pets have their very own food dish. Not because we are trying to sell you more products but to ensure that each of your pets gets its needed share of food and nourishment to be healthy.

Animals (especially dogs) have an inbred instinct not to share in order to survive so they either chase the other animals off or they wolf (no pun intended) as much of the food down as fast as possible (which is not healthy).

Also some pets just naturally eat slower than others or they may be selective eaters or they could be intimidated by the other pet. Either way, providing each pet with its own food dish helps to solve this problem, ensuring each pet its needed amount of food and nourishment.

As a further caution, experts recommend placing each pet’s food dish in separate rooms which will help each pet feel more relaxed and less stressed and prevents one pet from eating the other pet’s food. Staying in the room with them as they eat and monitoring them is another option.
