How to Measure

for the

Dogs Only Gourmet Stands

(Patent Pending)

The size of the elevated and combined pet food and water stand your pet will need is determined by the water bottle side of the stand. If you determine the correct stand height for your pet on the water bottle side then the food bowl side will automatically fit.

That size is determined by your pet’s mature height at the withers (top of the shoulder area-see picture).

A stand basically just holds the water bottle and/or food bowl but proper height adjustment of the water bottle and food bowl is important (please see What You Need to Know). For this reason our stands are made in two pieces, the stand and the water or food support units. You have the ability to easily adjust the height of the water bottle and/or food bowl on your stand either up or down to reach the most comfortable position for your pet to eat or drink. This is an added benefit for pet owners with immature pets as the level can be adjusted up as your pet matures.

How to Measure for the Water Bottle

  • With your pet standing on all four feet measure from the floor up to the withers.
  • Then adjust the water bottle support unit so that the tip of the drinking tube is at or near that level.

Height Adjustment of the Water Bottle

There is no “exact rule” on where to position the water bottle, just some guidelines to go by. It should be adjusted to where it is in the most comfortable position for the pet (see What You Need to Know) to ensure that they drink an adequate supply of water.

Observe your pet as they drink. Do they stretch or strain to reach the tube tip? Do they twist their heads to the side in order to drink? Do they look uncomfortable? If so, then make the appropriate adjustment either up or down until the pet is comfortable.

But keep in mind the pet’s physical condition and its preference. Is it a senior pet? Is the pet handicapped? Does the pet prefer to sit when eating or drinking?

Remember that it is very important that each pet’s water source be adjusted to his or her level to make certain they drink an adequate amount of water.

IMPORTANT: Before leaving your pet alone you must make sure your pet will use the water bottle and that the water bottle is working properly. Please refer to the manufacturer’s instructions that came with your bottle and our FAQ for important and helpful information.

How to Measure for the Food Bowl

The height of the elevated (or raised) food dish stand your pet will need is determined by your pet’s mature height at the chest area (see picture).

  • With your pet standing on all four feet measure from the floor up to the pet’s chest area.

  • Then adjust the bowl support unit so that the top of the food bowl rim is at or near that level.

Height Adjustment of the Food Bowl

There is no “exact rule” on where to position the food bowl, just some guidelines to go by. It should be adjusted to where it is in the most comfortable eating position for the pet (see What You Need to Know).

Then observe as your pet eats. Your pet needs to be able to reach the bottom of its food bowl without its throat rubbing or touching against anything as this might cause the pet to have difficulty in swallowing.

But keep in mind the pet’s physical condition and its preference. Is it a senior pet? Is the pet handicapped? Does the pet prefer to sit when eating or drinking?

PAWS Creations™ recommends that all pets have their very own food dish. Not because we are trying to sell you more products but to ensure that each of your pets gets its needed share of food and nourishment to be healthy.

Note: PAWS Creations™ cannot be held responsible should a young pet’s mature height exceed the height range of the DOGS purchased.

DOGS are an acronym for the Dogs Only Gourmet Stands™
(Patent Pending) and are for indoor use only.
